Oh come on Pat, you know. ;^)

If'n a fella really wanted to, and had a ton of extra cash laying around
(yeah, right), there are ways........

Parts bin blueprinting. Cam twisting, hell, individual lobe twisting for
that matter. Carefully Extrude Honing the intake tracts, port matching them
and then re-oxidizing the metal to look like it originally did from the
factory. Rewriting the factory computer fuel and spark curves. Heck, one
of the Mopar Performance computers would offer 10 HP and be completely
undetectable (since they are simply factory computers with different maps)
except for the rev limiter being raised to 7400 rpms, and how are you gonna
test that one without a LOT of grumbling from the person whose car you're
revving the piss out of the engine to find the rev limiter cutoff?
Hot-rodding the injectors. Etc, etc, etc.

Just talk to any former go-kart folks. They know all the cool ways to cheat
in a "spec" class with rules similar to our Stock Class rules.

Now, having said all that, do you think that a normal driver, such as
myself, would ever be able to utilize that ill-gotten extra 10-12 HP?? Most
likely not. But for a fella that was, say, only a tenth behind the class
leader. Well................
