Hey all.

I installed the SpeedBleeders that I bought from Bruce Wentzel at Green Dot
Racing in my Neon today.

GREAT STUFF Bruce!!!!

All went well and the brakes feel much better than before. I used STP DOT 3
(silver label) super heavy duty stuff, cuz that's all that was available
when I was shopping today. Dry boiling point over 500 degrees and wet
boiling point over 284 degrees and best of all, $4 for 32 oz which was more
than enough to flush the entire system with fluid to spare. It was either
the STP stuff, Castrol LMA or one of many generic types of fluid that didn't
look too awe inspiring.

Only one problem reared it's ugly head and that was in the form of corrosion
on the factory bleed screws that I removed from the passenger side of the
car. The front passenger side bleed screw had slight surface corrosion on
the entire surface of the screw that is exposed to the in-line fluid and the
rear passenger screw was almost as bad. Curiously though the drivers side
bleed screws didn't show the slightest sign of this same corrosion. Since
the Neons have a diagonally split brake proportioning circuit (RF & LR on
one circuit and LF & RR on the other circuit) this is even more curious.

The brake system was as the factory assembled it and has never been touched
before today. Apparently the factory allowed some moisture to get into the
system and start the corrosion which over the course of 13,000 miles has
reduced it's effective braking ability.

Oh well, hopefully the fresh fluid and the continued maintenance of the
system will prevent this type of corrosion from becoming a problem in the
future.

Oh yeah, best of all the pedal is once again very firm and the brakes are at
least as good as the day I first picked up the car, if not better!!!

See you on course.

You jump in front of my car When you know all the time
That 90 miles an hour Girl Is the speed I drive
You tell me it's all right You don't mind a little pain
You say you just want me to take you for a drive
