OOps, The Bosch field connection + is connected to the brown purple wire that
was on F+ and the other end of that lead was removed from the 6RA C2 and
connected to the white wire removed from the 6RA W1. The local auto
electrician told me that the field + can be connected direct to power via the
ignition sw and no relay is required. NOT connected to the brown white wire
removed from 6RA C1

I have had some enquiries about how I changed the alternator so here it is.

The model I used was a small Bosch unit from a late (90's) model Nissan car.
The model number is 9120060855, U-K1- 14V--45A--22. It fitted the bottom mount
ok however when I tried the initial fit the pully on the unit was about 5-6mm
closer to the radiator than the origional. To fix this I elongated the
mounting holes on the lower bracket so the pulley aligned with the water pump
and harmonic balancer. The upper mount required a new longer (or extend the
origional like I did) bracket from the thermostat housing. There is limited
clearence from the rear of the alternator and the headers on my GT however
there is sufficient clearence and movement on the upper adjuster to allow
fitting a new shorter belt.

After fitting it up I removed the 6RA unit, the 4TR unit and the 3AW unit as
they are no longer required (the Bosch alternator has a replacable regulator
mounted on the rear of the unit). The heavy gauge brown charge wire connected
to the Ammeter was reconnected to the charge lug on the Bosch unit. The Bosch
field connection + is connected to the brown purple wire that was on F+ and
the other end of that lead was removed from the 6RA C2 and connected to the
brown white wire removed from the 6RA C1. The local auto electrician told me
that the field + can be connected direct to power and no relay is required.

I still have not connected the ignition lamp however the Ammeter shows the
circuit chaging correctly. Any advise would be appreciated.

By coincidence, just today I replaced my old Lucas Alternator in my 5
with a Bosch unit with the internal regulator. I reconnected the field + lead
and the charging lead and now the alternator now shows charging. How do I
reconnect the warning lamp? Thanks in advance
