Scott,
I recommend rebuilding the whole engine. I have seen broken rings in
Alpine engines before and I suspect improper piston ring gap (not enough
ring gap). Someone probably forgot to set the gap, and installed the new
rings straight out of the box. Since you need new pistons, I would
measure the bore for wear and bore it the next oversize.
