Having done hundreds of TR6 oil changes with the stock filter setup,  it is
easier to get the canister out from the bottom by dropping the clutch slave
out of the way. Dealers back in the day would remove the fuel pump to
access from the top but I had personal experience where they left the fuel
pump disconnected.  Needless to say it's quite the attention getter to be
stranded on a major thoroughfare at rush hour within sight of the
dealership!
