engine compartment cleaning

Any thoughts on the best products and methods for cleaning the engine and  
engine compartment areas?  I know to avoid a high-pressure spray in order  to 
keep electrical parts from getting water inside.  Any other tips?   I use a lot 
of Griot's Garage products.  Has anyone tried their engine  cleaner spray?  
Simple Green?  Others?
