Thanks for the responses.
It's what I expected -- the Outer Axle shaft does not easily come out of the
hub.
I had lots of trouble doing the ujoints in a 6" vise w/o having to deal with
the heavy pieces like
the hubs and drive shaft.
I have a new shop press so I think I'll try it with that. I'll build a wood
fixture to hold the
hubs. It'll have two strips of wood nailed in a "V" shape on a plywood base. I
will slide the hub
left/right in the "V" track in order to adjust the height of the hub end with
respect to the yoke
end. I hope it works.
I would think it's easier to line things up in a vertical stack orientation in
the shop press rather
than hold everything in horizontal alignment inside the jaws a 6" vise.
We'll see.... :-)
