I am new to the group and a new TR-6 owner. First off I would like to
publicly thank Gary Fuqua and Mike from Mike's TR-6 World. These two
spent a lot of time typing emails with advice on what to look for in a
TR-6. Thank you!
I finally purchased one from a dealer here in Missouri. I feel I got a
pretty good deal. The car is solid, runs well, and only needs minor
attention. I do have one question for the group, and probably many more
to come. :o) I can't seem to verify the serial number of the engine.
The chassis number is CF3638U, which matches the '75 TR-6 I bought. The
paint and interior codes also match the car, but the engine number is
CF8145UE. The Bently manual does not break down engine numbers
specifically, so all I have to go by is a Victoria British catalog, and
that number doesn't seem to match any year TR-6, unless it's the engine
out of a '73. 1973 numbers seem to go from 1- 12501. Correct? If it
is out of a '73, is that a bad thing? Any ideas?
