I fought the same problem a while back.  What I found was a bad ground 
connection at the rear turn signal socket.  I ordered new ones from one of the 
big 
three that have a ground prong rather than depending on a contact between the 
socket and taillight housing.  Solved all problems.  Hope this helps.
