Have not swapped tires yet, but I'll give it a try. Doesn't sound like a
tire issue, but stranger things have happened.
I have not done any u-joint work either

Todd,
If I'm reading this correctly you have been zeroing in on the hub and/or
brakes. Have you rotated the rear tires/rims to see if the symptom changes?
