The last time I rebuilt my motor, I had the same symptom.  My leak was at
the large plug (looks like a freeze plug) that seals the rear of the
camshaft bore. Punched a hole in it, levered it out, and replaced it with a
new one (smeared with Permatex).  Voila! No leak.  Of course this was after
pulling the tranny, clutch, flywheel, etc.....
