Rick:
Roger Williams in his book cites an example where the sprockets
were reused with a new chain during a rebuild, as I recall (citing from
memory is always risky).
I just rebuilt me engine, and replaced the entire set. I had 70k
miles on the ticker, with lots of buggered maintenance by the DPO. If I
was going in to replace just a cam for example, I would probably just
replace the chain. But then, I'm cheap.

I completely understand the engineering side of this now. OK, for a
poll:
how many have ignored good engineering practice and replaced the $8.00
chain
alone?
