Just to update you all on my progress on the teardown of the engine from
hell. Using jamb nut method I removed 10 of the 14 head bolts today. The
remaining 4 are soaking in PB Blaster. The whole impetus for removing the lump
was
initiated by a slipping clutch at speed. I had assumed that the cause was a
leaking rear main seal. Actually the seal area is dry as a bone. The clutch
disc is just flat wore out. The front seal on the tranny is kaput so the
inside
of the belll housing is well lubricated . Once I get the head off I will
check condition of botttom end , pistons , and camshaft. Then I'll really bug
you guys for advice. Mike C 71 TR6 in bits
