SPEEDOMETER

  My speedometer needle in my 76 was wiggling back and forth wildly then 
snapped most of the needle off and nows spins fast clockwise.  But there is 
enough 
stub left to point if I can get the needle to point without jumping around.  
Does this sound like a cable or speedometer problem?   Maybe just cable lube?  
If so, how and with what do I lube it?
