Michael,
I do not know for sure about the "KD" series, but I can tell you that I
have used the block from a "72 vintage GT6 (KF 12510UE), in order to put
my engine back together.
The casting numbers and internal dimensions matched my original "72
engine. I transplanted most of the needed items from my old unit (crank,
and rods), along with a lot of new parts (pistons, cam, lifters,
bearings, oil pump, and timing gear).
If the KD series is of earlier vintage, you may have a more difficult
time using components from the later engines.
I had severe damage to the casting of the #4 bearing saddle, and as a
result, it would have been difficult to repair. As it turned out, at the
time all of this was happening, I could have purchased a new block from
TRF, at about the same cost of the used GT6 unit. It would have been less
work preparing it for re assembly too. Live and learn.
In your situation though, having a unit on hand can make a difference in
the economics of your choice. But most of all be sure the block casting
is the same as what you need for your application.
I seem to recall a site that listed engine unit #'s along with "ear
range" for our cars. Maybe it was "VTR.org". Can anyone else confirm
that.

Hope all this info is helpful,

Mark Riddle
