This is on my "To do" list, as well-only a little farther down.
The rear black paint was added at the request of the North American TR
dealers to break up the newly redesigned rear end in '69. It's a "satin" black
enamel (not flat or semi-gloss).

and tell them what you're trying to do. They make two sizes of aerosol. The
larger of the two is supposedly very close to spray gun quality and a good
choice for a novice painter.
As far as the actual painting goes, preparation is everything. Other than
that, you should have no trouble covering the windscreen frame and tail section
with one can.
