Mark---There are ways to get exhaust pipes separated, but most are
messy. A lot depends on which connection is being stubborn. I usually
take the car to a muffler shop and pay the guy the $20 to zap the U-bolt
clamps, torch the connections, and use his special ViseGrips while
knocking the pipes apart a little. Then you can take the system the
rest of the way off when you get home to do your original chore. Reverse
instructions for re-assembly. ; )
