It could be that your voltage stabilizer has dirty contacts. The gas gauge
and the water temperature meter are both powered by the stabilizer. Is your
gas gauge also reading lowish?

Does anyone know what a normal temp gauge reading is for the "standard" 180
degree thermostat in a later TR6 with 8.5:1 compression, stock cam? I put
in
a new one last year and it used to read about 1/2 scale, but then for some
reason later on it started reading more like 1/4 scale. So I got a new one
from TRF and it also reads 1/4 scale.
