As a matter of routine for all sorts of reasons, pry open the
outboard lip if half shaft boot, squirt in hypoid oil with a
basting syringe, with a little patience seal up the boot lip with
aircraft locking wire (medium gauge) - even if it leaks out a bit
it's better than running dry splines.
