electronic ignition

Hey guys,

My distributor is in need of replacement, and my mechanic suggested that I 
replace it w/an electronic ignition system. I can't remember what brand he 
mentioned but said it would cost about $180. 
Do any of you have this installed in your car and do you recommend this type of 
system?
