Test the sender with an ohm meter. As you move the lever up and down the resistance will vary from 0 to about 30 ohms if it is working. need a new fuel gauge sender. How is a used one checked? oletru

A lot of the new after market gauges are 70 ohms. Has anyone had experience hooking one up to the 30 ohm original sensor? Grant oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959

The gauge would be inaccurate as it needs the 0 to 30 ohms to read full scale from empty to full. The 30 ohms represents a full tank with 0 of course being empty. With the 0 -70 sender, the gauge wou
