- My starting problem is due to a 44 year-old generator. I can exchange one for $50, but I see new generator "brushes' for $4. Is this a cheaper alternative to exchanging? Is replacing brushes easy? th

- Replacing the brushes isn't that hard, but you'll want to clean up the armature (where the brushes make contact) and replace the bushings/bearings..Your shop manual shows how to rebuilg the gen.. The
