Don't know about VW, but Porsche now recommends synthetic oil and sells their cars with same. Of course soon they won't any longer be air cooled... Ted Rodgers

I use Castrol R-40 Bean Oil. It smells good, and works pretty good. Synthetic oil in a vintage race car? Isn't that illegal? Sounds like a modern "improvement" to me. :-) Vaughn
