Pete, it's an interesting theory. Do the posts in the cap show signs of violence ? How about the tip of the rotor ? If you grab the shaft and wiggle it, does it clunk around ? I've never rebushed one

As someone else said, check for rubbing inside the cap. Are you sure the rotor mark is really a crack not carbon tracking? For a modern plastic cap/rotor cracks without a crash is pretty rare. If you
