Malcolm, Rarely do I see a car that doesn't need new bushings in the steering column. It isn't hard to do while the column is out and is certainly worth the cost of the bushings and new column felts

I have an aftermarket steering wheel on my TR4 and it's held on with one nut (behind the horn push). Then it's just a spline fit. A bit a wriggling was all it took. Best of luck. Mike Blonder Elmhur
