I've not worked on the 6-cyl version, but I believe it should be the same as any Lucas distributor. You'll need to remove the rotor & point plate, then drive out the pin that holds the drive dog to

Both guys Jim mentioned are great friends to Triumphs. Martin is in UK and Bob the US. My brother had his TR4A distributor restored by Bob including advance diaphram. Got back his unit looking brand
