I'm working on the '69 Spit I sold to my girlfriend... it would pass inspection except that the brake lights don't. 1) Is there a fuse box, if so, where? Is it relevant to brake lights? 2) Where's th

Thanks to all who helped. The problem was simple: a wire had come loose from the brake light switch. Now I can get that nasty rejection sticker off the car! John M. Trindle | jtrindle@tsquare.com | T

Although I sold the 69 Spitfire to my girlfriend, I still work on it. The latest problem is starting. The starter will engage initially quite well, and crank the engine around. At some point the star

[excellent stuff deleted] This sounds like an excellent possibility! The car is probably not in a perfect state of tune. It's valve guides are leaky and so it has to fight a bunch of pooled oil to st

Congrats! You have a kinked or frayed choke cable. I had the same problem on the B and lived with it for a few months... but replacing the cable made operation much smoother. There was indeed a kink

One thing to check is the brake and clutch pedals. A car with 130K will show substantial wear on the rubber pads (if original) where a 30K car will show only a little. Carpet/mat wear, and shifter kn

Close is nice, but exact is not critical. If you are off a few degrees the valves you set will be slightly loose, not a bad thing. The "valve closed" section of the cam is probably very "flat" (const
