To all: I've come up with a problem I hope someone out there can solve. Occasionally (usually when my Tiger is up to running temp)I hear a strange squealling sound when I begin to let out the clutch.

Jeff, Sometimes the throw-out bearing will make this kind of sound. Try seeing if the sound correlates with the pressure you apply with the clutch pedal (in neutral). You should be able to hear some

I'd bet money on the fact that your release bearing is going south on you. One of my long time Tiger friends has just gone through the very same thing with his Mk1. His car developed that same high

Jeff- Make sure you have about an inch of free play in the pedal travel. If the TOB is adjusted to tight then it could prematurely be failing. Chris in Trinidad -- Occasionally itself.

Sounds like the pilot bearing to me. But most of the net think it the throw out bearing. In any case, it'll not get any better. While you have it apart, spend the money and replace the pilot bearing

The only way to ensure that the throwout (release) bearing is not riding on the clutch fingers in a hydraulic actuated clutch is to add a pull-back spring to the throwout bearing arm. Tigers did not

Not that you'd necessarily want to do it this way, but mine has a 1/4" ID body washer welded onto one of the header primaries, and a spring that's about 8" long running from that to the throwout arm.
