- Here is an article about adding a transistor to an SU fuel pump to reduce the current across the points, which is said to make a big difference in reliability and durability at the cost of about $3

- The author of the article mentions that the pump draws about 3 amps when the points are closed... then designs in a 1 amp diode to clamp the emitter voltage. It would be prudent to put in a diode rat
