- Hi there, Does any one know where I could obtain a schematic for the inside of a Smiths tach. It's a RV12401/00A out of a MKIII sprite. I'm trying to find out what one of the components was before it

- Is it the tach or tach drive gearbox on the back of the generator? The drive you can have rebushed by a competent machine shop. The tach can rebuilt by Nisonger Instruments 570 Mamroneck NY 10543 Ph

- Hi Jerry, If you are interested, you can rebuild the tach by taking it apart. Dirt can cause it to freeze, also lack of lubrication can also cause it to squeal. Take the tach out of the car of course
