I have a hose running from the breather filter thing on the front of my 1275 to my air cleaner, but no PCV valve. OK...Not OK? CTP

Question. The carbs on my '74 1275 have the connectors on them. I have run a hose from the front cover oil separator to a y-piece. From there a hose goes to the connector on each carb. I have install

Tad, I have the same carb set-up on the same car (74 Midget). I don't use a PCV valve. It's been running fine for years. Kevin V.

Richard, my '72 US Midget has the Y and hoses to the carb bases. Other end goes into a big hose that goes dirsctly on the oil separator on the front of the timing cover. No PCV valve at all. chuck

If your 1500 is spitting oil through the PCV line from the rocker cover (that IS the stock PCV fitting on the 1500, by the way), I'd be looking at why you've got that much pressure in the crankcase.

I installed a PCV on my 1275 using a vented cap (venting from timing chain cover) and it still leaked all over. Plugged the vent in the cap with a pop rivet and it seems to help a lot.
