You're not wetting the walls of the intake manifold soon enough. If you're running SU's, try the next richer needle. If running a carb with an accelerator pump, go one hole or step more on the pump

Maybe a fuel problem in the float chamber of the carb(s)? I wonder if , when you change the flow of the head, it might require a change in the float level in the carbs to compensate for more fuel del
