- I agree with Peter's reasons. As far as a vacuum moving more air than a positive displacement system (minor math ahead): In a duct, the pressure drop (corrected to standard air density and pressure)

- Blue smoke out the tailpipe, only under high vacuum conditions (throttle lift off, "chug-chug" idle). It drove me nuts! Thought it was guides at first, necked down PCV to desired effect.

- Not sure about DGV, but DCOE has no vac advance provisions. Maybe you're missing the vac advance at those conditions? I had similar symptoms for the first run around the block, then advanced timing
