Took my 76 spit out this evening for a run. Last week I replaced a rear wheel cylinder, the brake lines on the rear and all four brake hoses. NO problem showed up then but tonight the left front cali

If your caliper is binding it's time for a rebuild. I don't think that your recent bleeding contributed to this problem, unless you used a different type of brake fluid that swelled the piston seals

A few weeks back I installed a new seal kit on the brake master cylinder. I only got to drive about a mile, and things were ok. Last weekend, I took the car out for a longer run, about 20 miles, and

Might dirt or a bent brake line cause this, meaning that pressure is going in but very slowly released?

Sounds like air in the brake lines to me. As you use the brakes, heat is generated in the system, and in turn, the air expands as if you were applying the brake. Try a thorough bleeding of the system

This was my first thought also. It sounds like the excess fluid isn't allowed to return to the reservoir.

Have you ever replaced the brake hoses? recently? They can swell shut, allowing pressure buildup similar to your description. Gregory W. Smith http://www.cvn.net/~gsmith Member, Central Pennsylvania

Very good! I didn't think of this until you wrote it. The wheel hoses may be internally blocked, preventing the fluid from returning. Pressure from the MC could get through, but not the otherway due

I don't think so- he originally said that releasing the coupling at the MC solved the problem, at least temporarily. This wouldn't be the case if the problem was at the wheels. I think the problem ha

I had the same problem with a Formula Vee that I had rebuilt the master cylinder on. The problem was that the brake actuating pin (plunger) was staying depressed too far into the master cylinder whic
