Sure it wasn't just a U-joint? I've never seen an early Spitfire diff so perhaps that's what it is. But most likely it is from a GT6. The six studs is the clue. The drain plug would have been added b

The early Spit Differentials as well as the Herald ones have 6 mounting studs because they have a clamping plate on top of the spring instead of that ridiculous rocker box which can only use 4 studs.
