No the stand is fine, more to do with the length of the engine block. That stand needs to be larger to deal with the stress. I tried to rotate the engine on the stand and could not lock the pin in af

I never had an issues when removing my spring. If memory serves me well, I removed the spring first then the rest of the rear suspension. I did have the rear supported on jack stands and the body was

I had to burn mine out with a propane torch. http://www.justdrive.ca/02/09-07/photo.html I got the rubber soft enough that I was able pop them out. I don9t know if this was the best way, but it work
