Here's my opinion: Those ammeters with the "+" and "-" indications and zero in the center of the scale are useless. Unless something is seriously wrong, the needle just stays in the middle. I think a

The carb dashpot on my MKIV has started losing its oil. I fill it, and a few days later it is totally dry. Obviously it is leaking past the o-ring that seals the needle adjusting screw. Does anyone

What is this steel cable for? It certainly doesn't exist on my MK IV... I would guess it is meant to improve the crashworthiness of the car somehow. Doug Braun '72 Spit

I like the Autobook book a lot. It's a small book, but it's got as much useful information as the much thicker ones. Plus, my copy has a nice plastic-coated hard cover. Doug Braun '72 Spit

BTW, Some of the battery application databases (e.g. Sears') list a 24T size for a Spitfire. This is WRONG. A 24T barely fits, and you have to jam it into the battery box. Doug Braun '72 Spit

When you do the brakes, you really ought to remove the clips that hold the cylinder in place, and clean and (lightly) re-lube the mating surfaces. Also change the rubber boot if it is falling apart.
