As I recall, the Spitfire gearbox is not a bolt on to the GT6 engine. I believe the input shafts and bell housing are different. The cases are the same, so putting a J type OD on a GT6 3 rail box is

I've been gathering the parts to convert a 3 rail gearbox to OD for my '74 Spit. I was able to get the OD mainshaft ($230) from Spitbits, and the adapter plate ($115) from Rimmer without any problem
