I tried a catless Y-pipe on Abigail and took it back off as soon as I could. Unless you are running a blower track car, a catless Y-pipe is a bad idea on a SHO. 1) SHOs need the backpressure to make

1. Unless you are going to go through the hassle of tuning it correctly, you will lose torque with the catless pipe. It's not worth it. It's also illegal. 2. The last time I checked, Bittersweet's pi

on my car, the loss of the cats didn't make any real difference either way. With the new cams, the car lost torque both ways. But it did gain more HP when we put the catless y-pipe on. On a stock en

Ironically, none of the (at least the old SS unit and PP/FPS unit) are legal either, even with cats since none were EPA/CARB approved. So while it may pass the visual inspection, technically, it's s

It looks like the backorder time on the 23355 is about a month. Mine was ordered in early August and, though it bounces around daily, the "expected" date is the 7th of September. No real problem for

While we're at it, I figured I would also add that: a) SHOs (like most gasoline engines) do NOT require backpressure to make power. b) any "loss" that is experienced or measured from the use of a cat

Thank you Mr. Parrott. It's been known for 1.5 decades that SHO engines (normally aspirated, at least) need some backpressure to make their full torque potential. If needed we can go back to the lite

I believe that catless exhaust without backpressure will indeed cost low end torque. The method, I think, is that fuel/air mixture will blow out the exhaust valve during the valve overlap period. Tun
