On he back of the headlamps there are three mounting points. Each mount has a metal clip that retains the headlamp. Pull the metal clips up and out, and you can remove the headlamp by pulling forward

It is a good idea to have replacement clips for these before you attempt this job though because they usually break upon removal. BTDTHTTS On he back of the headlamps there are three mounting points.

The 2nd Gen cars may use a different type of clip (judging from the hyper-accurate Chilton book), but my 89 was exactly as you described, with the little holes that you have to separate on the clips.

I was describing the gen2 clips. A few years back I purchased 12 from a dealer for $6. A 75-90 degree circlip tool works perfectly, and can be had at most autoparts stores for about $5. I remember my
