mercon has grit (for lack of a better term) in it. pour some on your finger and you can feel it. dextron does not. if your tranny is slipping and you need another month out of it mercon will help. b

The short answer is, that you can supposedly use the newer dextron a transmission requiring Mercon, but not the other way around. The fluids that meet the specs for both transmissions will indicate t
