I had a 1942 H-D flathead that would only run on AC plugs. Champions would last only a few miles. It would run forever on ACs. I recently bought a GMC with a 228 that turned over but would not start.

I had a 50 3100 with a SBC. I used a Lincoln Versailles rear. It is a 9" Ford with disc brakes and will handle just about anything you can throw at it. All you have to do is reverse the rear springs

There is a repair bearing for GM c-clip axles that is a bearing and seal in one unit, and moves the bearing roller contact area back to the unworn part of the axle. Axle replacement is not necessary.
