First, you need to determine what model you have. Is it a pickup? Does it have an extra bed support (upright portion that would accept bed stakes) about 1/4 of the way back from the front support? If

I had similar problems with my '49 half ton. I rebuilt the front end even though it didn't "feel" sloppy. When done, I was REAL disappointed to find it didn't really improve the handling much. Then I

Hope you don't mind if I step in a answer the first part. A 0-60 oil gauge is found on AD GMC's, and although a different color, is a direct swap for the Chevy 0-30 gauge. The refacing kits (decals)

I assume you mean the 1954 version (and later) of the 235 (full pressure engine). And while you are correct that they used a 0-60 gauge, it was a dished out gauge versus the flat face in the pre-'54

My '49 has the D-C ammeter, and a 0-80 speedo. However, if what you have IS GMC gauges, not too worry. Simply get a Chevy refinishing decal set, and you'd not be able to tell the difference. <mcdac@

Take it easy with the 600. Better to use 1500 or 2000 (although the 600 can be used BRIEFLY to get the REALLY high dots), then switch to 1500 or 2000. Follow (finish) with some type of polishing comp
