- Another opinion or two ... With regard to "cleaning" an engine - I don't know about the kerosene route - it sorta bothers me too. However, I have very successfully cleaned out some completely sludged

- Industrial Paint and Powder is a magazine that just starting showing up at work (free) and I have kept signing up every year because it has some interesting stuff in it, more appropriate to my hobby

- Listen to the warnings! MEK is seriously awful stuff. I work in the auto industry and they banned it from their plants years ago. My brother-in-law used it for a cleaning job on woodwork in his house
