Hi Arvind, It's a very good discussion. Here we use a 1020 steel and it works well. The main advantage is that it's cheep and easy to weld. The experience that we have is that the tubes usually fails

Chrome moly does provide higher yield strength, however if you're designing for stiffness, chrome moly's E value is VERY similar to any other steels. If you look at the two equations used in the rule
