If the metal console box has a cigarette lighter then connecting the ground to it should work find. Just turn on the radio and touch the wire to different chassis parts to see if you can find a good

In this case, the most convenient ground is probably also the most reliable. I stuck a piggyback spade connector onto the lighter ground, and attached the radio ground to that. I don't know if this
