- A machine shop guy once told me to use 30W non-detergent oil during the break-in period on a rebuilt engine. Supposed to help the rings seat. The only stuff I can find doesn't appear to be very high

- The factory specified 20w-50 and this was for a new engine I don't see why it would not be the same for a rebuilt. Be sure to follow the break in directions as far as speed goes. ..Art
