- Could very well be. My BGT does this after the temperature drops to ten below zero or so. I would check your transmission oil - I suspect someone put in a 90 wt. or greater when it should be using 1

- When the clutch pedal is depressed, the throw-out bearing is pressing on the pressure plate of the clutch, holding it off of the clutch, which results in resistance to the engine, similar (sort of)

- I don't know why I want to join this thread but.... I read in an shop manual (i don't rember what one) that the idle speed should be set with the clutch pedal depressed. I have tuned up and repaired

- Thanks for all the replies/advice on my idle speed problem. I'll do the carb body throttle bushes first and worry about the potential throwout bearing problem after I get the idle smoothed out. Joe C
