On the topic of fuel pumps I have been wondering why MG used electrical pumps on their cars. My fathers 70 Land Rover 88 has a mechanical pump which seems to work flawlessly. Is this a cost issue or

Fully agree on this - I dislike the ever sparking contact design in this pump very much as well. As an electrical engineer (study) this sort of Micky Mouse solution looks to me as very unprofessional
