Some months ago Mr MGOC himself - Roche Bentley - went into print in Enjoying MG saying that if you wedged the filler cap in the handle it would lock it on (locking triggers are illegal in the UK). H

BTDT. The original leaded pumps had a spring around the filler nozzle - probably so that it could not be inserted in an unleaded car. But it also kept the nozzle from falling out of the filler neck.

David, I believe he means leaving it versus standing (or squatting) and holding it in place.... My '76 B doesn't allow the filler to 'hook' onto the filler neck so I must squat there and hold it in.
